Outreach International Inc. was founded after Floyd Hammer and Kathy Hamilton took construction mission trips to Tanzania, Africa in 2003 and 2004.  Many regions had been devastated during a 5 year long drought, creating an extreme shortage of food. Traveling to areas that had food was nearly impossible since they had no money to travel or purchase food. Many children and elderly were dying from starvation.  Something had to be done to help save lives, so Floyd and Kathy stepped in.

Floyd and Kathy purchased truckloads of maize (corn).  The local women, referred to as Mama's, made beautiful handmade baskets. These were the only items of value.  They exchanged maize for baskets to feed the starving people.  With much success over 5,000 baskets were purchased and thousands received food.

Outreach continues to purchase baskets from the Mamas.  The baskets are shipped to the United States where they are sold and often offered as gifts when generous contributions are made.  Other commodities in the area include some of the best coffee in Africa, soapstone figurines and necklaces, camel bone necklaces, and various other crafts that are available under the Crafts Tab above.

Your contributions to Outreach allow us to:

• Send Kids Care meals to food shelters and schools in the United States and feeding centers Africa and Haiti. Meals are also sent to African orphanages, hospitals and schools.

• Install clean water systems throughout Tanzania to help eliminate life threatening illness such as dysentery and typhoid.

• Provide financial support to the Gunda Technical Secondary School in the Singida Region where students are taught new and existing agricultural practices.

• Provide tuition scholarships and school uniforms to children of needy families in the Singida Region.

• Send yearly medical missions staffed with medical professionals from around the United States and Canada to provided desperately needed surgical and dental procedures.
